Today I arrived in New York City at Ashley Rose Orr's house.
10 year old Ashley was so happy to see me. She said my arrival timing was
perfect. I helped people smile through the depression, and now I'm in NYC
to help her smile after the terrorist attacks. Ashley and I dressed in red-white-and-blue and went out. Our first stop was the movie theater. We met Ashley's friends and watched the movie, 'Hardball". The movie was great. It showed how people can change their lives and the lives of others through love. Our next stop, Time Square. I bought several post cards of the World Trade Center to pass out on my travels. Time Square was amazing! Flags everywhere. I took pictures. I could feel the unity of the people. I know the terrorists thought they would tear us apart, instead they united us and made us stronger. People here are kind and loving. At 7:00 pm, we joined most of America by stepping outside and lighting a candle. What a powerful message, "We stand united - We will not tolerate Terrorism." I am very proud to be an American! I will write again tomorrow.... Love, Shirley Temple |
