Shirley Temple Vinyl 12 inch doll fashions
The first Shirley Temple vinyl 12 inch dolls made by Ideal came out in 1957-1958. I believe production of the 12 inch dolls stopped in 1962. The dolls came in a box with a picture of Shirley. Many were originally dressed in a pink slip with undies. Towards the end of production, the dolls were dressed in a blue and white playsuit. There were also purses and pins with Shirley's name on them that came with each doll! Additional clothing could be bought in boxes. Examples of two types of boxes are shown below. The pj outfit on the right is in a later box. The dolls are maked ST-12. The fashions on this page are all original.

During this period of time, Shirley Temple was introduced to television with Shirley Temple Storybook Theater. A little later, four of her childhood films were released to television Heidi, Captain January, Wee Willie Winkie and Rebecca of Sunnybrook farm. These were the only "movie outfits" that were made for the vinyl dolls. The next four outfits represent these films. Other clothes for the doll were made as styles of little girls fashions from the era of the 1950's and 1960's.
